Re: Extra fonts in Finale

By the way, the other famous Japanese font "Kousaku" for Finale was announced with a SMuFl version. So maybe Chaconne also get a SMuFl update? See the "Finale 27 Information" thread here: https://translate.google.com/website?sl=ja&tl=en&ajax=1&elem=1&se=1&u=ht...

Re: Extra fonts in Finale

It used to be available in the Japanese demo of Finale. Maybe you can get hold of it somewhere on the Japanese MI7 website?

Re: Finale fonts available for download

It would be very interesting to pit Dorico against Finale using Perfect Layout. The new Perfect Layout v3.0 beta will probably be available in two weeks. As the developer of Perfect Layout I would be very interested in seeing a comparison of automatic score/parts layout with Perfect Layout/Finale, ...

Re: Sebastian SMuFL font

Are you really writing rule cases for every conceivable font? What happens if I have my own custom font, unknown to Perfect Layout? Yes. You can't do layout automation without knowing what the music symbol means. Ca. 1200 symbols from 500 music fonts are currently supported by Perfect Layout (all f...

Re: Sebastian SMuFL font

Congratulations! What do you think about changing the font name to a unique name like Sebastian2 (or something similar) to make clear that it's completely different than the old version (as is November2). This makes it much easier to identify the font in the host software. The old font was running i...

Re: Finale (v25) and fonts behind 255?

Making and maintaining two versions of the font might be difficult ... In the best case you only need to change the encoding before generating the font. In the worst case you may also have to change the symbol slots for the fonts. You could also think about just omitting symbols 128-159 and put them...

Re: Finale (v25) and fonts behind 255?

This is not possible if you want to access all 0-255 and all unicode symbols both on MacOS and on Windows. AFAIK it's only possible to access all symbols on Windows and all symbols except (128-159) on MacOS. I have told MakeMusic about this bug in 2016, and they said it will probably be fixed it in ...

Re: Finale (v25) and fonts behind 255?

If you add a font to MacSymbolFonts.txt, Finale ALWAYS cuts off everything above 255. If you want to use 0-255 AND unicode symbols above (I assume you mean 0xE000?), it becomes more difficult. Finale MacOS has a bug that doesn't allow to access the symbols 128-159 in these hybrid fonts. On Windows i...

Re: "Urtext Kapellmeister"

As far as I know you MUST add all Urtext fonts to MacSymbolFonts.txt. If you don't add them, the problems that you describe may occur. Wrong glyphs/symbol slots or missing glyphs are typically caused by wrong usage of MacSymbolFonts.txt. I have only tried the Leipzig 1803 font from Urtext, not the o...
