Re: Cross Staff - spacing
John is right about the principle. However, to my eyes, none of your edits has nailed this exactly, even if your Finale version is pretty close. Here's how I think it should look: Yes, it was my rush job. This is absolutely better. What software can do the correct output by default? Any plug-in for...

Cross Staff - spacing
I continue from another thread: Btw, regardless of the stance one takes on this issue, it's important to note that all stem-up notes adjacent to the barline must receive space compensation on optical grounds in the same way as any stem up-note followed by a stem-down note: Ex-1.jpg So my question is...

Music spacing definition by Helene Wanske
Helene Wanske defines the requirements for spacing as follows: 1. Spacing should follow the rhythmical structure of the music. 2. The rhythmical interaction of multiple voices must be clearly recognizable in the score. 3. The line up of notational symbols shall be optically balanced. 4. The disposit...

Re: Minim Head Design and Comparison
I think that the inner white space (hole) and the angle of it is important for notes on lines. If to little angle is applied, the legibility will not be sufficient. I would definitely try to test with different angles, particularly for the hole. Maybe it doesn't need to be the same angle as the oute...

Re: Mathematical Spirals in Clefs
I am perhaps not qualified to comment on this, but I have feeling that a good looking might be a combination if these two options.
Another question arises: how to create other parts of the clef if keeping in mind this perspective?

Re: Minim Head Design and Comparison
Dear Fluffeh, Can you post your noteheads in a situation, like mine above? How it would look in a dense situation or more loose? Also, how they look in combination with other symbols: accidentals, clefs, flags... It is also important. Have you tried to change the angle? I really have no clue what ma...

Re: Minim Head Design and Comparison
I absolutely prefer this shape, your second version, it feels more stable IMO, particularly true in 'live' situation (music example).

Re: Minim Head Design and Comparison
Thanks for that. Someone more knowledgeable with mathematic/arithmetic/design perhaps will comment your design...! My favourites are Maestro and Vienna :5 note-heads. Maestro, since it has flattened edges with staff lines which makes them "stuck" into the staff, for my eye. Vienna has a ve...

Re: How to create a complete font?
Thanks for clarification, I guessed it correctly!
Why should we not use just one type? Why TTF and OTF? I know a bit what difference is, but if we use OTF in Finale, Sibelius and others, wouldn't it just be OK?
