Re: Philosophy of Music Notation
OCTO, I've had an eBay alert for Notations 21 for years, but it's always way out of budget whenever it pops up! Yes, it was really a limited run, and quickly it was sold out. I was lucky and bought I think for 80USD, new. Thanks for the pictures, good to explore. Sorry, what is next to Karkoschka? ...

Re: Piazzolla - Libertango
I have done the arrangement of Libertango for full orchestra.
You have to find who is the © representative in your country. As the first step, get in touch with Edizioni Curci who is © holder of "Libertango". https://www.edizionicurci.it/

Re: Philosophy of Music Notation
I think Alan means more "philosophy" rather than "techniques" of music notation. But I believe that the term "philosophy" could include as well aesthetic, psychology, visual perception etc. (etc= rhetoric, dogma, math, geometry, what else...?)

Re: Philosophy of Music Notation
A very nice idea! It would be more than helpful to add the ISBN / ISMN for each book, than it is easier to find. The book from Andrea Valle I haven't seen before, and would definitely love to explore, thank you for that. Just what it comes first to my mind is an extravagant book I have, perhaps not ...

Ouch! But the client doesn't know that designing brand new clefs requires designing brand new all other symbols, a complete font.Dan Kreider wrote: ↑04 Feb 2021, 01:49The client literally just wants to design clefs that are different enough to be distinct.

Re: Feedback and suggestions on hand-drawn clefs
I’m working only in Dorico now, so I can’t use the Finale fonts until they become SMuFL (which I think is in the works). My preference would be to use Bravura for the majority of the music font, including the accidentals. We’ll see if we can design a treble and bass clef that are distinct, but that...

Re: Feedback and suggestions on hand-drawn clefs
That being said, it definitely doesn't match the flats. Yes, definitely not the same style. The flats look like Sonata or Petrucci. I would definitely not mix the styles at all. Having an old style clef plus a razor sharp accidental doesn't look well. The Swedish Church has printed several times th...
