Re: How best to show notes as optional.

David, every experienced trombone player will understand the reasoning behind this, but some mediocre conductors won't. Don't you think a footnote in the score would help make it clear?

John's solution looks good to me.

Re: Sebastian SMuFL font

To come back to Sebastian again: I very much recommend to change the name to also avoid conflicts with existing installations of the old Sebastian v1 font. Nasty font cache updates are probably required and/or several font files may exist in the Windows font folders. There will also be conflicts wi...

Re: Dorico/Lilypond/SCORE?

Given the great number of skills required to produce a music notational product, a musician/programmer duo might be the best alternative to a lone creator. Programming is not that foreign a creative activity for many musicians. In fact it requires skills that many of us have: mathematical thinking,...

Re: Tantacrul Dorico video

Does anyone know of a more mature (and of course independent) review of the program? I don't, which is quite interesting. I have contributed to some of the reviews on scoringnotes.com, and while we are always explicitly encouraged to voice our critique, the general spirit is usually extremely posit...

Re: Tantacrul Dorico video

Actually, the Dorico defense front (including me) might have been overreacting. This post on the Dorico user forum sheds some light on how critique is usually handled among professional designers. According to that post, the video is actually both high praise for Dorico and a valuable professional a...

Re: MuseScore 4 announcement

Well, polished is not necessarily the same as practical. Though I do think that the Dorico UI could use a liiittle bit of fine tuning here and there. I can't quite pinpoint why I still feels a bit clumsy at times... I’ve taken a look at the other screenshots... it all looks like pretty designs made ...

I suppose it helps to study what all the other failed apps are doing wrong. Unbelievable...

But is it just me or does the Musescore window actually look more polished? Less noisy?
