Re: Music Paper Colour (opinions needed!)

Hi all So after trying lots of lighting and distance tests (none of which I could accurately recreate on my camera - apologies!), it does seem that the nude paper is slightly duller than my other test papers, but not by a lot. It's noticeable when directly compared with pure white paper, but not as ...

Re: Music Paper Colour (opinions needed!)

True, but surely this is true for all paper and inks? And even in the low light, I don't see a noticeable difference in contrast when compared to ivory paper. Tomorrow I will print two identical parts using this coloured paper and some stock ivory paper I have on hand and will post them for comparis...

Music Paper Colour (opinions needed!)

Hi all Recently, I received a sample of some new paper my regular paper provider has started making, which has an off-white, blush/nude colour with "high opacity, yet low lightfastness". After doing some research on what this means, the paper has the fascinating ability to purposely lose i...

amelchi wrote: 14 Jul 2020, 15:39 does somebody know about fonts for contemporary techniques like, for instance, "open diamond" for strings...?

TIA

The November 2 font by Robert Piechaud has this, and a tonne of other new music symbols.

Re: Using Multiple Microtonal Systems

Hi OCTO Thanks always for your swift responses. I agree with all your points. As a composer myself, I tend to stick with the arrows, or in some cases arrows plus harmonic partial numbers but even I know that that is me becoming too neurotic! I will check out the font and will see what I can suggest ...

Using Multiple Microtonal Systems

Hi all Hope you are all well and are staying safe. A client of mine who is a living composer tends to notate using both the Tartini system and the Gould Arrows (see attached photos). I asked why he uses both systems and he said that they represent different approximations as to how big/small the alt...

Re: Comparing text fonts (Operatic Score)

It's a combination of the Chiswick Superfont series and an italic font called Nantes Light.

Also, many thanks for the tautological comments! Will clean up.

Re: Comparing text fonts (Operatic Score)

Dear all

Thank you massively for all your helpful advice! After spending many more months on not only font finding but also actual composing, I am now using a combination of different fonts that I am now happy with:

I checked with a Clarinettist who said it was fine? I guess we'll find out during the performance haha!

Re: Comparing text fonts (Operatic Score)

Dorico? Wow. I have just noticed that it was not Sibelius, and I believed it was Finale. I will skip than xml for testing. I enjoyed it very much. I would like to see more Dorico (complex) examples in the future. Thank you so much OCTO! I equally admire your engraving (especially the one of the Bee...
