What kind of clef is this?

Hi folks,

I have been seeing this clef for a while now in Finale, but it's application has so far eluded me.

Could someone explain?

Thanks,

Yinyue

Re: Orchestra Seating Brass/WW

Awesome, thanks David. Secretly, I hoped you'd jump in and share your five cents.

How are the lines numbered? Do we count from left to right (i.e. firsts always on the left, then 2, 3, etc.) or from right to left?

Cheers.

Orchestra Seating Brass/WW

Hi Forum, This question is not directly related to notation, per se, but, hoping this indecent slight would be overlooked, I'd be grateful if someone could clarify this for me. In a traditional symphonic orchestra, how are the WW/Brass chairs set up if you have multiple player for one instrument? I....

Re: Multiple Parts on Single Page

The question is: you want to have one part (=sheet of music) and on it two instruments, one under another? Ye, that's what I mean, Octo. Same here, I know they exist, but have never seen them in action. I would just prefer to go with an existing layout standard rather than my gut; as that particula...

Multiple Parts on Single Page

Hi Forum, I'm preparing a recording session where players record from their home equipment (Covid…) Could someone show me a few examples of how the layout should be done to fit multiple parts (e.g.: Tpt. 1 & 2) on the same page? I'm not thinking of grouped staffs, but one part following another ...

Perfect, an answer bright as day. Thanks Octo, much appreciated.

Re: Violin Family - String Numbering

This is played by 1-4-0 and it is not needed to be notated. Hi Octo, Ah, I see my first mistake. We are talking about the same "fingering", though I was trying to indicate string, not finger numbers; and that's Roman numerals, I know now. I think the OP meant to write in string numbers (I...

Violin Family - String Numbering

Hi Forum,

Merry Christmas!

I want to check back with you if this string number notation would work.

The viola-player should play the two D4s, first on the 3rd, then on the 2nd string.

Is this quickly graspable for the players, and if not, how could I make it so?

Thanks and,
Happy Holidays

David Ward wrote: 16 Dec 2019, 08:13 Any of these should result in a secco attack, varying according to tempo and dynamic. You may choose to add sec., especially when very loud, but the articulation on its own ought to be enough.
Ah, of course, staccato; almost self-explanatory.

Thank you all for the clarifications.

Thank you for your advice.

Could you elaborate on the 'various articulations'? A quick finale/sibelius sample would be deemed most kind.

Thanks
