Re: Proofreading suggestions
Both Schirmer and Ross have good chapters on proofreading too. I assume most people here probably have Ross so check out pages A22-A24. In the late 90s/early 2000s I used to work for a woman who used the Schirmer method. I still basically use it, although I don't literally check off the letters anym...

Something in the works at Sib
I don't even have Sib installed anymore, but I have a friend who posted about this on FB. "Sam at Sibelius" posted this on the Sib forum today: "Again, sorry we haven't been able to say anything about what's coming next. We've been working on something new and ambitious, details of wh...

Re: Multi-bar rests
Something I've thought about when writing cues is the different placement of the musicians in different orchestras. Any ideas about how to think about this? Sure, a cue isn't very useful if the player can't hear it! If it makes musical sense and is a strong identifiable line, I tend to cue like ins...

Re: Audacity branded 'spyware' after MuseGroup acquisition
I asked a relative who works in privacy about this yesterday when the Audacity thing was going around Twitter. I am most definitely not a lawyer so don't take this as legal advice, but here's what I recall her saying after she briefly skimmed it. There certainly could be things I'm recalling wrong o...

Re: Finale 27 is 'coming soon'
A friend of mine solved the settings transfer issue with the Patterson Settings Scrapbook plug-in. Here's his FB post.

Re: Finale 27 is 'coming soon'
It just seems like an entirely foreseeable issue though. I mean less than an hour after it was released we were already griping about it here. They could have created a new library category that wouldn't contain any elements that would have an effect on SMuFL settings, or somehow split up Docu...

Re: Finale 27 is 'coming soon'
Got it, thanks. That wasn't working at first either, but it least made it clear the issue wasn't that I was creating a new file. I had changed Preferences/New/Default Document to my standard default (like I do every version), which of course isn't SMuFL. Importing was using my non-SMuFL file. It sti...

Re: Finale 27 is 'coming soon'
I can't get it to work. Maybe it's because all my Finale files are a hodge-podge of a bunch of different fonts. I can create a new file, switch the font to Bravura, import an XML and the default font has been switched to the non-SMuFL Maestro, after which point I can't switch to a SMuFL font.

Re: Finale 27 is 'coming soon'
One good bit of new is that the fonts now come under a SIL Open Font licence, so you are free to modify and copy them into other fonts with the same licence. Honestly, the fonts seem like the best part of the update, and you can get them for free with the demo, right? I need 27 to remain compatible...
