Composers vs Editors: Another controversial note

Several controversial notes occur at the end of Chopin's Etude op. 10 no. 8. Analysis proves helpful in dealing with the following one: Chopin Etude op 10 no 8 MS.jpg At the asterisk in measure 60, many editions (including the New Polish National Edition) have felt that the composer omitted a natura...

Re: Finale: Not dead, just resting

Command (or CTRL) 0 to show/hide the panels. But I NEED those panels, and I need to arrange them on two monitors so that I can work more productively in Dorico. In my opinion, Finale, despite its imperfections, still sets the bar for GUI music engraving. While the Dorico team is clearly motivated b...

Re: Accidentals in early Berg

I think you are right, dfan, the D chord is operating as a neighbor chord within a E dominant chord rather than the reverse.

Re: Engraving in MuseScore

I finally had a chance to look at the two pages, OCTO. It is really excellent and illustrates well what has been said on this forum: the engraver is far more important than the software.

Re: The Pointing Hand

Definitely!

In the meantime, can one import it into Dorico as a graphic so the staff lines show through?

Re: The Pointing Hand

Nice, but is it SMuFL-compliant? :)
