Re: Augmentation dots

I think that it may be a matter of taste, since I have seen this done both ways.

But I would move them in. Dorico does this by default. And I would bring all the ties to the noteheads, threading them through and under the augmentation dots.

Re: Spacing problem

OCTO, the default version of Dorico offers the Bravura font and two sizes of noteheads, "default" and "larger". However, one can use noteheads, rests and augmentation dots from other fonts. So there is certainly the possibility of using noteheads with a different design for the s...

Re: Attribution and Use of Sources

Thanks, OCTO. So it is your impression that the content (not necessarily the image) of any public domain material that appears on the internet is available for commercial use. So for example, the autograph of a Beethoven work that resides at Beethoven-Haus may be consulted for the purposes of produc...

Attribution and Use of Sources

Does anyone know of a reliable source that explains the legalities regarding use and attribution of public domain online digitized sources in commercial publications? I am encountering a lot of confusing information on the subject. For example, some online libraries have claimed control over the &qu...

Re: Another Beethoven centered beam

I actually thought about doing this: op 31 no 2.3C.png but Im afraid that this one and your second example would be anachronistic. Concerning your first example, I was trying to keep the beams clear of the staff lines as much as possible for fear of making it hard to read. The stems on the bass note...

Re: Another Beethoven centered beam

Thanks for your input, Wescott I will definitely consider that in deciding whether to relegate to a footnote or not. This is a practical edition, not a facsimile. A couple of questions. Are you OK with ms. 71-72? And what do you think of the beam slants etc. in original edition? That's up there earl...

Re: Spacing problem

The perfect storm for layout. 1. Reduce the note size for the roulades? 2. If this is the only such measure and the next measure is not as full as the previous one, this measure might move to the next line. Then the previous layout would be reworked. 3. You probably considered a divided measure. It ...

Re: Feedback on music typeface

Congratulations on your font! I think that you have accomplished your goal and produced a beautiful font in the process. I am no expert on fonts but everything seems to be in order. And your treble clef is one of the best I've seen. Also the flagged notes and rests. The engraving itself is excellent...
