Re: Tips on creating a professional engraving?

Fonts are important to get to a certain aesthetic, but when it comes to learning engraving, any decent font will do, and as Schoenbergian says, Maestro is just fine as a music font. I would recommend that you start copying scores that you like (e.g., the Wiener Urtext editions you mentioned) in Fina...

Re: What Software Does MusicNotes.com Use?

Funny, I ran into a video by odod on youtube showing how you can change the piano brace character in Sibelius. I don't use Sibelius often, but it seems very possible that this "style" can be achieved in Sibelius (which does have superior brace scaling over Finale). It won't be a problem to recreate...

Re: What Software Does MusicNotes.com Use?

Knut, Are your sure about the brace? Finale has a scaling issue with with different stave heights. In the score above, the brace is scaled perfectly (compare 1st system with others) and doesn't get distorted like a Finale brace would. I guess it could be avoided if you entered the brace as an expre...

Re: What Software Does MusicNotes.com Use?

Judging from the piano brace, this is definitely Finale. Not sure about the font, though. Might be custom.

Re: Henle Blog and App

Thank you, OCTO and John! I had to put a bit of thought into how I could contribute to this discussion. It's very nice to know that it paid off. I totally agree with OCTO that the decline in the quality of musical scores is largely a matter of attitude. It's also a complex problem of decreasing reve...

I would love to quote your posts from their blog, since they represent a very well articulated reasoning concerning, what you call there, human output of the scores.
Possible?
That's totally fine by me.

Re: My current Sibelius slur settings

I really like those slurs too, and I agree with Johns comments about their general similarity to Finale's slurs, their superiority to Dorico's slurs and the necessity for an increased arch on the steep slur in the middle. All in all, these slurs seem a little bit too flat to me, and perhaps a tiny b...

Re: Henle Blog and App

I finally wrote a post in your support as well, although it perhaps served more as a response to the nonsensical digital vs. analogue analogy than as a very constructive response to Henle's computer engraving. I may have something more useful to say, though, if the discussion carries on.

Re: Finale or Sibelius

I'm sorry to hear that upgrading to Finale 25 hasn't remedied your speed issues. Aside from experimenting with alterations of your system to root out any problem sources, it's difficult to give good recommendations on how to proceed. I would firstly contact MakeMusic to hear if they can shed som lig...
