Re: Free music fonts

>When I uaed your fonts for the first time all Expressions with the space and white background became very huge until I fixed the space FAN. >In Maestro all 0-values give really large boundaries. Not sure why. Hm, I still cannot reproduce it on Windows, but I will check it later on my Mac. Or did it...

Re: Free music fonts

>I get them when I use the Selection tool and click once on it.
Ah, yes, of course, looks a bit different on Windows, but I get a rectangle as well.

Re: Free music fonts

And did you set the Maestro "Space" font annotation boundaries manually or where they created automatically ? Because when I click on auto-annotate nothing visually appears. The "space" symbol has no glyph lines, so it doesn't know where to create reduced boundaries for the FAN. But it would be inte...

Re: Free music fonts

Hm, weird. On Windows it's definitely the "f" height.
Here is a screencam video where I create an "f" expression in Maestro from scratch and it immediately gets the big border from the font's height.

Does the same happen on your system ?

Re: Free music fonts

Hi Octo, I was just testing the "space height opacity problem" that you mention. Could you tell me how you made it work with Maestro because I get the same opacity problem already in Maestro (which explains why it's partially the same in my fonts) ? Maybe it's a difference between MacOS and Windows ...

Re: Free music fonts

Thanks, Octo, for the clarifications. >I have some knowledge about OTF and TTF difference, however how it impacts just Finale is primary to me to know. The only impact I know is that my PDF printer (Foxit PDF) sometimes refuses to print document with OTF fonts in Finale. And OTF looks much (!) smoot...

Re: Free music fonts

Hi Octo, thanks for your hints. Here are my comments. >If I share my Finale documents on OS X with a user on Windows, shall we both use OTF? Good question! I should add it to the troubleshooting section. If you want to go cross-platform with the fonts, you should follow section 5) of the FAQ, i.e. "...

Re: Visual Music Font Comparison

John, it took a few weeks, but meanwhile I was able to have a look at the original 1920 print of the Berg opus that is available at the Bavarian State Library Munich (Germany), https://opacplus.bsb-muenchen.de/metaopac/search?oclcno=165560844&db=100&Language=en . The scans are now uploaded at IMSLP ...

Re: Visual Music Font Comparison

If anyone is interested in more background info on the music font comparison, Robert Puff from the OF NOTE blog published an article I wrote on music font integration in Finale: http://www.rpmseattle.com/of_note/behind-the-scenes-the-music-font-comparison-from-elbsound-studio/ Jan http://www.rpmseat...
