Re: Tantacrul Dorico video
I laughed out loud during the buttons to activate buttons to activate buttons episode There is actually a good reason for the "activate buttons to activate buttons". What the first checkbox does is tells Dorico that you wish to override the option vs. using the engraving defaults. If the ...

Re: Dorico/Lilypond/SCORE?
He's talking about this I think: http://lilypond.org/doc/v2.19/Documentation/snippets/simultaneous-notes#simultaneous-notes-combining-two-parts-on-the-same-staff You would have to manually override the markings for it to be really usable - it doesn't appear to do things like 1. 2. or 1.2. - only Sol...

Re: Dorico/Lilypond/SCORE?
I had a student who used Lilypond once a few years ago, a better student than most in terms of capability, and quite intelligent. He was stuck on Lilypond because he heard from so many others it was better and was convinced that it should do a better job for him, and stubbornly refused to consider a...

Re: More Dorico updates!
I must have been tired when I wrote that - I collapse a *hairpin*, not a slur, as a workaround. It is possible to add arrows as graphics, but the problem is that a graphic won't wrap to the next line. What I could do however is import a better arrowhead instead of using the overpressure symbol. The ...

Re: More Dorico updates!
I have switched to using Dorico in recent months instead of Sibelius, and I think its biggest weakness for my workflow is the inability to draw lines and arrows without resorting to the workaround putting a slur above the stave and closing the ends. To draw horizontal arrows, I have to combine the s...

Re: "Ten Music Notation Programs", including Dorico
I've revised the Seven Music Notation Programs announced here earlier, adding Dorico, Encore (still more popular in Europe and especially South America; turns out it's a program of choice in Brazil) and Graphire Music Press, which is once again available for sale and which had some discussion in th...

Re: Dorico Finale Side by Side
They don't appear to have an option to make the rests thinner, I would assume you would need to change the font entirely to accomplish that.
Do you have a SMuFL font you would like to try, to see what the Dorico output looks like?

Re: Dorico Finale Side by Side
I reported the issue with the fifth sixteenth note (the near-collision that isn't detected, but looks to the eye like a collision) to Steinberg, and Daniel responded: "We will also be changing the way that these kinds of almost-but-not-quite collisions are handled to make it possible for you to...

Re: Dorico Finale Side by Side
Here, I made the staff lines just a bit thicker (you're right, I overdid it before making them too thin!)

Re: Dorico Finale Side by Side
It moved in my updated version because I changed the tie default to create the tie from the inside of the noteheads instead of the middle, the tenuto then was able to fit inside the staff.
