Re: Lost Notation 8
John, I think your edition might be the one that can finally surpass Schenker's, and I eagerly await its publication. I already recommend your Inventions & Sinfonias edition to all of my students.

Re: Working during Covid-19 lockdown
I echo David and John's wishes as well, and hope that nobody else here falls victim to this virus. I also echo David's observations about a lack of creative impulse during these times. Practicing has been productive, but without Bernstein's "not quite enough time", I'm not pushed to accomp...

Re: Note values in Schumann
I do like the larger lyric size of the Breitkopf edition. Small text is much harder to read at a glance for me than small music.

Re: Two-note stem-side slurs and Elaine Gould
Looks like a computer engraving default (perhaps because it's easier to keep the slurs further away and avoid collisions). Re: Effect of Notation process on engraving rules
Also, digital tools seem to have been created by those programmers not particularly familiar with the reasoning behind many traditional engraving practices, which were then thrown out without any real justification. (See: Good contrast between elements, ottava lines, optical boldness of differently ...

Re: Effect of Notation process on engraving rules
I find Baerenreiter's unstylized roman dynamics to be unpractical as they simply don't stand out on the page as "dynamics" to me, as just one example of how this kind of innovation might diminish our ability to easily recognize these symbols.

Re: Correcting Small Errors in Beethoven's Piano Sonatas
Re: triplets - John, I follow your logic when it comes to the second example of the E-flat being a structurally different voice than the C and D-flat; this also explains the different division of notes between the staves. However, this doesn't make as much sense in the first example and I fail to se...

Re: Optical spacing
I'm not sure how that can be seen as an improvement unless the grace notes are entirely in time and on the beat.
