Re: MuseScore 4 Beaming

For what it's worth, here's how the latest stable build of LilyPond (2.22.1) does it. Very similar to the Breikopf 1917 sample. I do feel the first beam is a bit to close to the notes compared to the other groups, but not a bad choice as-is.

Re: Henle then and now

Very interesting thread, John and Ben. Just for comparison, I ran this passage through MuseScore 3.6, which is purported to have some significant engraving improvements over 3.5, which it probably does (but I didn't compare to that). Here is the raw default, no edits whatsoever: Henle-then-and-now-M...

Equity is definitely another one of my favorites.

I've used Linux Libertine O on a number of my own scores. It's a great one! Even used it as the font to publish my Masters Thesis in.

Re: A Swedish Song From 1903

Is anyone bothered by some of the idiosynchrasies of the music typeface (maybe it's just me)? The :n4 in the time signature being too low; :3r being slightly too low; :n looking a bit "crooked"; and especially the weird looking connection of the upstem flags with the note head ... I'm gen...

Re: Lyric font size?

David, yours looks just fine to me. As long as the x-height (as font designers call it) is close to 1 staff space, it should look normal to the eye. Slightly larger or smaller no problem, as long as it’s within +/- 5%.

100% agree with benwiggy. That was the first thing that caught my eye.

Oh! Well that certainly is odd, then. Does make you wonder if it was intentional or just oversight.
