As Gould makes clear in the quote in my post above, many people hyphenate lyrics in English exactly like German: the way we actually say it. So no apology was necessary.

If it is for archival purposes, I would probably transcribe it exactly as the choir sings it.AsstGen2018 wrote: ↑19 Aug 2018, 21:26 . The scores would be strictly for reference/library purposes,

Re: New to engraving...am I on the right track?
Consonants should NEVER be placed "where they sound", which is a hideous trend in recent years. Not that recent. As I mentioned on a different thread, I'm pretty sure (it's been a while) that I was putting consonants at the beginning of syllables in cases like "stor-my" 50 years...

Re: Dorico Pro 2 released
Thank you very much for your response. Daniel. I posted the following example of what I need at your site in January: Dorico fingering.jpg I was able to accomplish this in Dorico, but it involved a couple of workarounds and was generally too laborious to be practical. Also, I wasn't able to make the...

Re: Dorico Pro 2 released
Thanks, bewiggy. A lot of great improvements in Dorico. I was particularly glad to see the standard between-the-staff position for the number of a multi-measure rest for double staffed instruments as an option. However, as Schonbergian points out, the slurs in their examples still have the same tubb...

Re: Short Slurs (Octaves)
I hope this example is self-explanatory. I prefer the older style of splitting passages like this between the staves.

Composers vs Engravers: Stems and Slurs part 10
I find it fascinating to see how closely notation can parallel a composer’s thought process. At the very beginning of the opening theme of Chopin’s Etude op. 25 no. 7, Chopin’s always-faithful copyist writes: Chopin Etude op 25 no 7 MS Copy.jpeg This was engraved exactly as it stands by the first Fr...

Re: New to engraving...am I on the right track?
Welcome to the forum, AsstGen2018. I think you are doing a fine job, but do agree with benwiggy about the spacing unless there are other considerations that we are unaware of. Suggestions: 1. It would be best practice to provide cautionary F naturals in m. 10. 2. The last bar on page two should end ...
