Re: Maestro G Clef
There are numerous things that I don't love about Sonata, but overall I'd have to agree with you about the general construction, in that many (notice I didn't say "all") of the common curve "artifacts" seem to have been taken care of, while many other music fonts are plagued with...

Re: Notation Programs' Output Comparison
A short comment about "default" settings. I don't believe in default settings, at least not for Finale neither Sibelius. What I mean is that someone adjusted software settings in order to present "some kind of house style". I remember clearly how the default document in Finale h...

Re: Notation Programs' Output Comparison
Here's my 2 cents, by way of suggestion... 1. I don't think it matters too much how well-known the source score is, though it could be nice. What I think does matter is how "interesting" the notation actually is. 2. I think it's better to have a single page, if possible, whether it is an e...

Re: NCS
Peter, I'm not sure exactly what's the problem (especially since I don't personally own a Mac), but you don't seem to be alone in this. On the LilyPond User forum, a member mentioned how a particular text font all of a sudden wasn't working and after some research/testing, this is what he said that ...

Font SEBASTIANO
By Abraham Lee? Actually, I didn't create it. It was done originally by Florian Kretlow and called "Sebastian". IIRC, it was encoded to work with Finale. I became aware of the font after Florian made it available under SIL OFL. I eventually proceeded to make a derivative encoding for Lily...

Re: Clef design comparision
Some years ago there was a notation program named HB Music Engraver. It had interface issues and was not for sale for very long, but its output was nice. See http://www.classicalguitarschool.net/en/ for a number of free pieces for classical guitar done with it. Its default font, "Interlude&quo...

What are you referring to here? The LilyPond engraver didn't do the SCORE sample...John Ruggero wrote:The LilyPond example done by the same engraver appeared superior to me in so many ways.

Re: SCORE?
John, in the comparison thread you referred to, the SCORE sample is not the "normal" style of output of the program. We should get some input from Will Copper, who uses SCORE quite regularly. I can contact him, if that helps.

Re: Notation Programs' Output Comparison
Thanks, John. I could have been more clear. We are definitely encouraged to express our opinions of the different engravings. What I meant to say was that the comparison was not designed to be a rigorous challenge of, for example, how much time it took to create them, amount of tweaks needed to get ...

Re: FontForge and Finale
Hmmm... I looked at your file and I couldn't see anything obvious that would be causing Finale to not see it. The only thing that I wondered about is the code point of most of your glyphs. Does Finale have full unicode support? Even if it doesn't, I don't know why that would cause problems. It would...
