Re: Notation program...
Actually, I never do that. I never install software just for testing, it is not my way. As my schedule is VERY dense (deadlines, with orchestras, choirs, chamber ensembles etc) I need to have as smooth as possible my machines, and also I don't have time to do it. I never do that "sport". ...

Re: Creating a SMuFL font
Can we create fonts collaboratively via Github? Just curious. Yes! The "UFO3" font format saves each glyph to a separate file, and Florian has written a fontforge script to build the .otf font and .json file directly from the UFO3 files. So we can work on different glyphs and upload our f...

Re: Notation program...
John's previous comment is quite realistic and practical for me, the man has a very clearly defined attitude and a simple explanation about the situation. I really appreciate one such critical mind! I’m glad there are people who have seen what I’m talking about and what exactly is going on. Each ne...

Re: Notation program...
I try Dorico many things and program is slow... Really. Ok.Try this. If you have for example 50-... orchestration or similar chorus pages etc. and you need in middle of your work to add about hmmm ...4 -5 bars in some part and in some staff on your piece. Ok. When you click on popover click Bar (B)...

Re: Notation program...
The trouble is that each user wants to do 1000 different things. So the most efficient way to do them ALL is to have 3 steps: the first is one is a choice of 10 things; the next is another choice of ten things that depend on your previous choice; and the third step is one of ten that follow on from...

Re: Tantacrul Dorico video
Tantacrul seems to be the most misunderstood person in the world? He did not mean to imply people shouldn't bother with Dorico? The fact that there's a great number of people who took his video to mean that you shouldn't bother with Dorico shows that he's got to update his communication game.

Re: Tantacrul Dorico video
I didn't find Tantacrul's opinions very helpful. Too juvenile in its strong wordings. Does anyone know of a more mature (and of course independent) review of the program? I might have missed something already presented here, but, if so, please direct me to that. It is going to be very hard to find ...

Re: Tantacrul Dorico video
Actually, the Dorico defense front (including me) might have been overreacting. This post on the Dorico user forum sheds some light on how critique is usually handled among professional designers. According to that post, the video is actually both high praise for Dorico and a valuable professional ...

Re: Tantacrul Dorico video
… … …Why some subject themselves to this kind of torture is beyond me. Because for this old (senile?) man learning new software might be an even greater torture. I'm not a music ‘engraver’ as such. I compose in manuscript and then prepare a fair copy in Finale from which I (or somebody) can prepare...

Re: Tantacrul Dorico video
Dorico wipes the floor with Sibelius and Finale in many regards and he somehow missed most of that. I'm prone to speculate that he spent very little time with it. I spent the same amount with Dorico and I wrote three enormous pieces all inside the program (sketch, draft, edit, finish). That was all ...
