Accents: size and shape
I'm curious which of these three versions of accents you prefer. I've gotten some response on one of these on the Finale Forum a while back, but no comments from the core users on this forum, so far as I can remember. The left and center versions are each modeled after the two accents used by Durand...

Re: Spacing proportions and settings
Interesting!
For me it's definitely between 1.414 and 1.5. Kind of a toss-up, but I might prefer 1.5, actually.

Re: Spacing proportions and settings
Fred, for me, bar 4 cries out for space. So while I never thought that I would hear myself say this, I actually prefer the Sibelius "humanistic", with your variation a close 2nd, and Finale a distant 3rd. Both Sibelius versions remind me of the spacing that happens intuitively when copyin...

Re: Clef design comparision
In light of the earlier discussion on rotation, number three from the left is the best one to me.
All the clefs look very similar to the one in the Engraver font set, though.

Re: Notational curiosity?
John, your fermata looks fine to me, but considering Octo's point about symbol distinction I would perhaps make the tips a little thicker. I would leave the arc as is though. The conventional fermata shape is designed to be a lot shallower, and therefore looks good with a more circular arc. for a wi...

There is a condensed version available as well, although it's not included with Sibelius.OCTO wrote:In my opinion Plantin is to wide, for my music it is ineffective. Particularly it is true for the Roman version.

Re: Muzitex - for music text
Here are some more fonts I've seen in use or have used myself. I used to use New Century Schoolbook a lot because of it's relative heaviness, but I don't like the italic that much. Now I usually use Minion like everyone else. ;) Palatino is the font used both for body text and the examples in Elaine...

Re: Clef design comparision
Very good and well-balanced accidentals! Thanks, Vaughan! A problem which might very well be inherent in the basic shape of accidentals is that while I experience the distance between the sharp and the notehead as aesthetically pleasing, the distance between the natural and the notehead is too grea...

Nice, but John, I think you left your fingerprints on the fermata.John Ruggero wrote:
But seriously, where did those grey streaks on the arc of the fermata come from?
