Re: Finale 27.4 released

Many thanks to all, it was interesting to read. The only thing that has kept me away from Dorico is the "critical mass" of available copyists. Today one can find very talented copyists using Sibelius, competing and so keeping the prices down and availability up. Also, I have been working s...

Re: Finale 27.4 released

For you all from Finale, and now using Dorico, how easy was transition? Do you like the output? MichelRE John Ruggero I am working now on a piece done in Finale back in 2018. I have to edit and enlarge it quite a lot. There are numerous instances of extended techniques, hiding notes, nested tuplets,...

And Staff lines?

Re: fingered tremolo

In your example: https://notat.io/download/file.php?id=4002 - the first viola, first slur is a typical Finale (and other software) slur appearance: the slur's direction is downwards and the notes are going upwards. That could be edited. - the second viola, the slur can cross the flat's symbol stem. ...

Re: Finale 27.4 released

I have just opened a Finale file in 3 years (of trying Sibelius) and I am - lost. I have forgotten it totally.
Still not yet tried Dorico.

Re: What a difference a line makes!

It is occasionally asked whether lyric extension lines serve any useful purpose -- and sometimes one sees scores that don't use them. I recently had to sing the following**, where the words "Christ" and "Christ-mas" were both used in melismas; so you had to decide what vowel you...

Badly placed or perhaps a little too small.
I would agree. Seems to be "2".

Re: The Stravigor?

That is a great tool, and I would like to have it (Stravigor), but not so large staff size though.
Here is another "thing", a simple idea, but not something I would like to have.

Stravigor seems more clever.

Re: SCORE Music Publishing System VS. Graphire Music Press

I’m not a lawyer, but my understanding is that you cannot copyright the letter forms and glyph shapes themselves, but only the font software, i.e. the actual outline data, metrics, etc. from the font file itself. I am not a layer either, but I believe that copyright means "not to copy by any m...
