Clap Clap...! ;)

Hmmm... I am not so convinced. I believed that SCORE has better spacing algorithms. Not bad, but not ideal.

Re: Composers vs Engravers: stem direction 3

Actually, it's Maestro with Engraver accents, the famous Ruggero G clef, italic expressions are Vortragsbezchnung by our own Wess, tempo markings are TNR, done in Finale with line settings as suggested by various members of this forum and seen on the thread on this subject. The slur settings in the...

Re: Composers vs Engravers: stem direction 3

Past posters on this subject have maintained that unusual stem direction was simply the result of ease in handwriting. In this case, Chopin added to the difficulty, because the 16th beam of the pickup measure conflicts with the lower voice on that staff. In spite of this, Chopin could not bring him...

Re: RE: Re: Proofreading Questions

I would love a generic alignment tool that allows you to snap two object's positions together easily, or space things evenly. I would also love a grouping/attaching function so that when one thing is moved another moves right along with it. Oh, yes. A kind of InDesign or Illustrator tool. Snapping,...

Re: Proofreading Questions

Anyone interested in a thread on work-flow? How one works definitely impacts proofreading. Yes, a great idea! In months to come I will do a massive work, and that would be of a great help (also sharing my experiences!). One of my greatest problems is getting over my Arnstein training. We did everyt...

Re: Proofreading Questions

My practice thus far is to proofread at the piano on hard copy only after the piece is completely done. I seem to catch things better than at a desk. Wonderful. The playback can check almost only the pitches. What about missing hairpins, missing slurs... Playing the score is one of the most crucial...

Re: Proofreading Questions

Here's Ted Ross's proofreading system (which I have used quite successfully): Thanks for sharing that. Of course, some of these are a bit outdated with the digital engraving, but anyway good to keep in mind! I always compose by hand and I have a copyist that does the basic job for me. So I use foll...

I find the Russian edition Muzgiz also very accurate, ...but not so beautiful.

Re: RE: Re: Note spacing - voice collision in Dorico et al.?

BTW, my question about the spacing of seconds have thus far been ignored by the staff on the Dorico forum. This leaves me a bit worried whether they actually intend for Dorico to handle these situations similarly to Lilypond or not, that is: correctly or incorrectly, at least in my personal opinion...

Durand's 'highlights'

One of numerous clef misses.
