Re: Resized staff and symbol sizes
Dear colleagues, I agree with Knut, because what one can do is only to apply different font for the note heads. Many months ago I analysed this problem in Make Music forum. Yesterday night I dedicated to Lilypond videos. My first impression is that this program is not form me considering that if I h...

Re: Braces
Dear John, here is the picture of the appropriate settings:
As you can see, the distance I suggest is 10 EVPU (ca. 0,4166 spaces)
Best regards,
Wess

Re: Braces
Dear John, I assumed that you have right about the horizontal distance from the staff. So, I made another attempt to create a new brace, based this time more or less on sample 6, which in my opinion looks very balanced. Here it is. Screen Shot 2015-10-30 at 11.02.34.png If you, or someone of our col...

Re: Braces
Thank you again, Schneider, this version of the font is great. I just downloaded and analysed it. It would probably solve many problems with visibility of the text blocks whatsoever may be. Times is good and too modern for my consideration. I am tired from all this new designed fonts. The recently e...

Re: Braces
"the degree of stretching for different size systems can have a strong impact on the impression" I can't agree more, it really depends on the impression we perceive in combination with the staff hight. With a single staff IMO it works, however for grand-staff ... so-so. In other words – mu...

Re: Braces
BTW, Nº 9 is also SCORE.
Schott, in their digitally engraved scores, use this one as well as versatile set of symbols specially designed for them (for Score 3. and 4. versions)

Re: Braces
This is very interesting treat. Many years ago I was looking for some possibility to alter the grotty Finale piano brace. One of my favourites are Peters and Henle. So, after many attempts I found this as a my style and till today it is the default for any grand-staff project. Screen Shot 2015-10-29...

Re: Behind Bars
The book is good. There are other guidelines for music engraving, however not so complete as this one. As the title suggests – it is a book about the unrevealed or forgotten believes. This could help a lot to everyone who has the courage to learn more and more. I've got this book as a present form m...

Re: Making Notes
The blog is really very interesting. But as far as know, Daniel S. is going to generate software more or less closer to Sibelius rather than to Finale (or something else we could compare at the moment). I am reading very carefully his ideas and what he told me in private correspondence (soon after I...
