Re: So what is generally considered the best all-around Beethoven piano sonatas edition?
I purchased both volumes of the Schenker edition from Dover. The printing is not quite as clear as I would have liked but it is certainly acceptable and a step up from the more recent Dover editions with awful printing. The binding is sewn but not flexible in the slightest, so I will likely have to ...

Re: My current Sibelius slur settings
I don't mind the thickness, but they could be a bit more tapered in my opinion. It does look exactly like SCORE's defaults, if that's what your end goal is.

Re: Henle Blog and App
This is from a 2014 Henle score:
In particular, note the angle of the treble clef and how smooth the top of the new clef looks in comparison.

Re: Henle Blog and App
Also, looking at that score close-up, has Henle changed their music font? At least the treble clef looks different from their normally very distinctive look.

Fascinating. Out of curiosity, could you explain how Schenker's musical background influenced that edition, above and beyond what editors usually contribute?

So what is generally considered the best all-around Beethoven piano sonatas edition?
I'm asking because the market is filled with publishers as far as the eye can see, and Wiener Urtext's fingerings are highly suspect from a first glance (the editor even states that he recognizes they are "uncomfortable"), making me wonder if they're a solid choice. I don't know if Henle c...

Re: My current Sibelius slur settings
I just can't get my head around those ties, though. They're way too far from the noteheads to be pleasing to my eye.

Re: Have reprints been getting worse?
It's not even consistent among publishers. I bought one Breitkopf score of an early 20th-century plate and it was as crystal clear as any computer score nowadays. But some pages of my Brahms Complete Works look like some intern spilt an ink bottle all over the page.

Re: My current Sibelius slur settings
Is SCORE really a good model, though? I've always regarded its slurs, with their constant weight and taper regardless of length, to be the ugliest part of its output.

Have reprints been getting worse?
I've been using scores from my university's library lately. Many of them are photographic reproductions, yet perfectly clear and detailed, so much that you'd never tell they weren't originals. Then I look at the reprints of the same scores, sold today in music stores, grainy and blurry and blobby to...
