Re: Dorico Pro 2 released
The only concern about Dorico (a pure visual concern) is - the slur. It has some "odd shapes" that remind me of Sibelius. That depends on your settings. You can produce beautiful slurs with Dorico, even by default. I'm not a fan of the factory settings either… LARGE TIME SIGNATURES: there...

Re: Dorico Pro 2 released
Until the inclusion of such a feature, you'll need to work around this by creating separate flows or projects for your parts. Actually, all you need to do is create an additional player for the combined staff and exclude the single players from your print score layout. With the new Reduce feature i...

Re: Finale or Sibelius
Thanks again, Jan, for taking the time to make this clear! Now that I read your explanation I seem to remember that I knew this once. Well, never mind. I can imagine that making old software multi-threaded is very difficult. This must be a change that goes deep into the basic architecture of the app...

Re: Finale or Sibelius
And there is one thing one may not forget: Finale is single-threaded. Oh, is it? I was assuming that they had changed that with the move to 64 bit in v25. Isn't 64 bit synonymous with multi-threaded? It seems I need to improve my general IT knowledge. Anyway, your hint about the single-threaded ben...

Re: Dorico 1.2 released
It’s a bit difficult to explain. It basically means that Dorico will draw evenly tapered slur shapes – like Finale does.
Right now, if you examine Dorico’s slur shapes carefully, you can see where the outline of the skeleton line and the outline of the tapered shape cross.

Re: Dorico 1.2 released
On the topic of Dorico's slurs, especially the basic slur shape – Daniel Spreadbury allowed me to cite him from an email he wrote to me today: We do know about this, of course, and it's a consequence of drawing the slur with two lines: a fixed width "skeleton" line and a tapered path over...

Thank you, John! Judging from your posts here you're not easily satisfied, so this means a lot.John Ruggero wrote: ↑10 Dec 2017, 15:48 Thanks for bringing Nepomuk to my attention. It is an excellent font.

Re: Dorico 1.2 released
I'm not Knut. But if you don't mind: yes, the basic slur shape can't be modified yet. I think it's unlikely that this is changed in the near future. I, for one, can live with this limitation in projects where there's not much time for engraving subtleties. Dorico's superior default note spacing (and...

Re: Font Attempt
Well done, odod! This is a fine music font indeed. Beautiful clefs! Would you show us your C-clef? Did you design smaller clefs for clef changes? I like the flat! I think that the accidentals are pretty well balanced. I agree with Knut that in terms of balance the flat could be a bit heavier. I’m no...
