I can post the .ly files and see if I can't convert it.

If anyone knows of a ly2xml tool, that would be great.

Mastering Rachmaninoff

I guess this is my first belly-up post on this forum. Go easy! ;) I fully intend to re-engrave the Rach Op. 30. In order to do that, I need to get comfortable doing insane amounts of polyphony and dense musical information. This is my initial VERY-ROUGH draft. I've used "Cadence" as my fon...

Re: Schumann's use of <> on a chord for piano?

What does Schumann mean to indicate by the double hairpin on the long chord before the double bar? In 4/4 marked Langsam, mit innigem Ausdruck (One sees this sort of thing in some piano reductions, as an indication of what the orchestra might be doing, but this is written for piano and voice from t...

Re: How to find a freelance engraver?

Almost 10 years ago, when I finished my studies in composition, I got two commissions at the same time. Unfortunately, I didn't get paid as one would expect (you know what composers get...!) but deadlines were crossing each other and I had to find an engraver to help me. Of course, I am very “fluen...

Re: How to find a freelance engraver?

David, IMO, good piano reductions are very rare. Most of the piano accompaniments to the standard concerti, for example, need extensive doctoring. Brahms gave good advice that you might relay to anyone doing a reduction for you: leave out as many notes as possible to create something that is idioma...

Re: Extreme dynamics

John Ruggero wrote It is the dynamic that the Classical composers expected when they placed no initial dynamic marking in a piece. DatOrganistTho wrote: Not true. Not until Bartok did anyone see this happen. Sorry, I don't quite understand your objection. I hope I am applying to the right comment i...

Re: Extreme dynamics

MJCube, I believe that your teacher at Eastman was correct. poco f = not quite as loud as f = probably something between m f and f , if one interprets m f to have quite a different feel than f . I have always assumed that m f is the neutral dynamic; just the simple healthy projected sound that one ...

Re: [puzzle] Slur solutions 2

In all fairness, the original image I posted should be the same settings as that shown by DatOrganistTho. I think the confusion is being caused by the resolution of my original image that was captured from the PDF viewer, which I've noticed can cause the contrast to appear smaller than it actually ...

Re: [puzzle] Slur solutions 2

Lilypond's default output is such. Still don't understand how default outputs are undesired and sausage like. Please see attached and help me understand. Since this was a reply to one of my comments, something I've said earlier in this thread must have given you the impression that I find Lilypond'...
