Re: Dorico Pro 2 released

Thank you, Schonbergian and John. Yes John, it is the defaults, but with some altered line weighth settings etc. to conform to the style sheet. 1. The minimum distance for appoggiatura -> rhythmic item is set to 1/2 space in the Engraving settings, and can easily be changed. 3/8 or maybe a bit less ...

Re: Dorico Pro 2 released

Lots (and lots) of talk about scores, but I've yet to see any part samples coming from this product. Anyone using it care to share? This is a bassoon part I from an edition I worked on recently. In the score two bassoons share on staff so I had to manually split into separate staves. As the house s...

I was actually even thinking of making my own Maestro SMUFLization, but it is beyond my knowledge so I guess I just have to wait some more!

Re: SMuFL creation

Hello, I just found this: https://usermanuals-staging-finalemusic-com.s3.amazonaws.com/FinaleWinDev/Content/Finale/FinaleMaestro_Font.htm From the page:" Finale 2016 introduced FinaleMaestro, an updated and expanded Unicode-compliant version of the standard Maestro font used in default Finale d...

Re: Line thicknesses/Sibelius

Thanks to both of you. Actually I tried to use Engraver font first, but there was an issue with the percussion clef that did not position itself correctly. Anyway, I feel that Norfolk is an improvement over Opus in this case. The page format is a3 and I have set the staff size to 5 mm. To my eyes, 0...

Line thicknesses/Sibelius

I have been reading the forum's threads on line thickness with pleasure. Really interesting and this forum is a truly useful resource. Right now I am working on layouting a score in Sibelius and I have to change lots of things in the file - I did not do it from scratch. The line settings were a bit ...

Re: The very first pages of an orchestral score

Thank you all, good to think about this from different perspectives. As the piece is around 110 pages long, I think I will go for the more formal look using blank pages in the beginning. Maybe like my first example but with music already from page 5, I will see. If I start on page 6 instead, the mov...

The very first pages of an orchestral score

I am laying out an orchestral score and have a few questions, hopefully easily answered! Where does the instrumentation list go and are there any specific rules as to how this is presented? Should the music start on a left or a right page? Or can it start on either? As for now, I have done it like t...

As a harpsichord player, I can certainly relate to that.
