Re: Visual Music Font Comparison

Jan, thank you for explaining the great difficulties that you face in trying to make the example work with all these fonts. It is commendable that have largely succeeded and continue to improve the result. In that spirit: I tried the Berg example with all of the various different fonts in your demo ...

Re: Visual Music Font Comparison

The piece is still "blocked" at IMSLP, i.e. if one tries to download it there are nothing but empty pages. Universal claims a 1924 copyright renewed in 1952 by Berg's widow. Yet others maintain that the piece was originally published in 1920 and Universal's claim is spurious. One can read ...

Re: Visual Music Font Comparison

Jan, you have created a fantastic resource! Thank you so much. I know that I will use this extensively. Your Berg re-engraving is quite nice, but I did notice a few minor issues that you might wish to correct: 1. In my printed copy of the original (1924 copyright), the metronome mark is BELOW the te...

Re: How Much Would You Charge?

I was interested in seeing what the Local 802 copying scales were these days, but this page is closed to non-members. I found this interesting in itself, because the performing scales PDFs are all open to the public! Back in the day (1970s) I seem to recall 3.75 for a basic single page or orchestral...

Re: [Lilypond] Numerous Questions & Thoughts

Perhaps the ultimate notational tool would be one that would allow seamless access to both styles of interface, so that one could tailor it to one's own working style.

Re: [Lilypond] Numerous Questions & Thoughts

OCTO, I was exhausted just watching it and a couple of the other Denemo demos. I am beginning to understand how wrong LilyPond would be for me since I operate so instinctively. I love what computers can do about the elements of notation that should be invariable, but I want easy, hands-on control ov...

Re: [Lilypond] Numerous Questions & Thoughts

Richard Yates emailed me that he uses Finale. Maybe mmacauley knows something more about the present state of Graphire Music Press. It is certainly a shame if it is languishing when it could become another open source product.

Re: [Lilypond] Numerous Questions & Thoughts

Thank you for your comments, which I find particularly interesting because they are from someone who is fluent in many notational products. I do agree with your assessment of the alignment issue. More comments from users of Graphire would certainly be welcome. Perhaps another thread? I would love to...
