Improvements to Maestro in Finale Maestro
I posted this on the Finale forum, but I thought I would mention it here: MakeMusic did mention in passing that the new SMuFL fonts in Finale have been revised and improved over their original counterparts. So, here is the sfz glyph in Maestro: Screenshot 14.png ... and here's the sfz glyph in the n...

Re: Page numbering
a PDF, which appears as a new file with NUM added, very cool! All my Services that modify the PDF contents produce a new file with a new name. That way, mistakes can be corrected, and the file doesn't 'eat itself' while the job is processing. Note that page 1 is not numbered. I ought to provide an ...

Re: Page numbering
Sorry, John. Yes, it's a bit geek-orientated. The Read me doesn't need Calibre, though it might be the only thing you have to open it. You're best off looking at it on the website. It may also open in TextEdit. You have to edit the text of the script in the main panel. (You'll have to expand the &qu...

Re: Music Paper Colour (opinions needed!)
Hard to know without seeing it in the flesh: so let your eyes be the judge!
Presumably, the pink tint offsets the blue light that's often found in strong lights. Very interesting!

Re: Page numbering
It's part of my PDF Suite of Mac OS Services and scripts. https://github.com/benwiggy/PDFsuite You can download the Automator workflow just for page numbering here: https://github.com/benwiggy/PDFsuite/blob/master/Automator_Services/Add%20Page%20Numbering.workflow.zip and then add it to ~/Library/Se...

Re: Page numbering
Ah. Sorry. "What a difference a word makes." As part of my bundle of PDF utilities for MacOS, I have an Automator workflow that puts page numbers on a PDF. It's ideal for use after you've collated PDFs from different sources into one document, so as to avoid any numbering problems between ...

Re: Page numbering
As with text books, it's very common for prefatory pages "not to count", and to have their own numbering in roman numerals. My Baerenreiter and Ricordi scores both do this. I have an Edition Peters Christmas Oratorio that starts the music on page 5. If you're assembling prelims from DTP so...

Re: Dorico slurs and beams
One related topic is Dorico's default options for hyphens. I think I get a better result with the following settings: Screenshot 9.png Dorico's defaults are 2, 1, 7.5 and 1/5 respectively. The first two options are a bit confusing. The first option, "Minimum Gap", is (it seems to me) the d...
