Re: Clef design comparision

Did you actually design the clef with the blue line vertical and then rotate the symbol, or simply start with that angle and design the clef around it? Yes, the clef was designed upright and rotated afterwards. The rotation is simply a nod to plate engraved scores. For me it is in relation to the w...

Re: Clef design comparision

Octo, just so I am sure I understand your reservations, how about this one? Menuet G-clef Mod.png I've made it upright and tuned the center swirl. You also mentioned that the diagonal strokes were disproportionally bold and thin. I haven't made any changes to this, as the strokes need to match those...

Re: Clef design comparision

Thanks, Octo!

That makes it much clearer.
As I said, that shape is very difficult.

Re: Clef design comparision

Knut, what I feel about your treble clef is that it is moving somehow, a present unbalance. That sounds distracting, but I'm not entirely sure what you mean. It goes forward … I take it you're referring to the slight clockwise rotation? … and also BW-balance of its parts are to exposed. Do you mean...

Re: Clef design comparision

I have never seen a treble clef that I have loved without reservation, and Fred's group is no exception. Is it possible that the symbol is simply impossible to make beautiful? I don't know about impossible, but I can tell you from experience that it's one of the most difficult shapes to work out. I...

Re: Clef design comparision

So long as we're playing this game, here are my main clefs as well: Menuet Clefs.png The font features most clefs recommended by SMuFL, except for a few of the historic ones. For those not into the french C clef variation, a set of ordinary ones, based on the one below, will be included as stylistic...

Re: Quarter rest design

Knut, I think that your 1/4 rest is perfect in terms of design, but is angled a little too much to the left (what I meant by "falling forward") for my taste. Thank you very much for your feedback, John! I don't quite see your point regarding the angled 1/4 rests, but based on your comment...

Re: Quarter rest design

Thank you, Fred and Octo, for your positive feedback! Wow, what is the name of your font Knut? Is it commercially available? Unfortunately it's still in the works, but I plan to make it commercially available when it's done. It was almost finished until the SMuFL standard came along with it's enormo...
