Re: Positioning of objects
Just to clarify, the natural is just a cautionary accidental in this case, right? The performer would play the upper note diatonically anyway if nothing was notated, correct? Coming from an E in the previous measure, an E# would be somewhat less common I suppose (and D#-Eb obviously not possible), ...

Re: Excess verbal information?
Thanks for the info, David. OCTO. there is a bug where all the notes and markings disappear when you try to move the staves with the staff tool, if there is a lot of text in the file. This was confirmed yesterday by MM. Disappear? Permanently as it is deleted, or just visually on the screen? And wh...

Re: Positioning of objects
Thanks for your suggestions John. The mordent is upper, double. I have these many; so I prefer, to save space and get clearer score, to use these instead of written graces. I struggle with graces in Finale. And yes, that is a short diminuendo. I should definitely use another symbol, more hairpin loo...

Re: Excess verbal information?
In my scores earlier I have used prefaces to explain all in detail. Now I use "foot-notes" (precisely attached to the stave under, not page), so I never forget what I would have written if I woul have made a preface. Also, musicians get very quick explanation of what should be done. I pref...

Re: Positioning of objects
Thank you David, your first solution is preferable.
I might use another approach, maybe placing sul pont. below the staff. That is not ideal at all. I will test it.

Re: Clutter?
Here is one of these clutters that actually is perfectly clear to perform. http://notat.io/viewtopic.php?f=3&t=22 Not sure why, but sometimes dense pages make more sense than loose. Maybe I cannot call it clutter! 2. Parentheses around (8)--- when the marking extends over to other systems. I've ...

Re: Regular and doubling instrument information
I have another problem.
I have 3 bassoons.
- Bassoon
- Bassoon / Doubling Contrabassoon
- Contrabassoon
What should stay in the score when having 2nd bassoon that doubles CBsn., and the third bassoon which is CBsn.?
A bit of thinking, or perhaps I am so tired of this deadline so I can't think!

Re: Regular and doubling instrument information
I did so, both in the score and in parts:
Trumpet Piccolo Bb / Trumpet in C (1)
Trumpet Piccolo Bb / Trumpet in C (2)
Trumpet in C (3)
Trumpet in C (4)
Does it make sense?
I am not conducting, but I would have it clear for everyone who faces with the score in the future.

Re: Regular and doubling instrument information
I would just think of it by chair and go with: Thank you. Now concerns about the score. What should stay as abbreviated names in the full score when having at the same time: Piccolo Trumpet 1 in Bb / doubling Trumpet in C (when it doubles) and Trumpet 1 in C ? As you understand, the conductor stops...
