Re: Muzitex - for music text
I have finally managed to create a compatible font for OS X and Windows. It is (as before) derivate of Free Serif https://www.gnu.org/software/freefont/ I left the regular font intact and added SemiBold version, which is one that has to be used as music text (expressions, technique). It displays goo...

Sub-brackets
In the full orchestral score, do we group with sub-bracket Oboes with English Horn, Bassoons with Contrabassoon and Clarinets with Bass Clarinet?

Re: Beaming style (Finale et al.)
As far as a remember 'Flattened beams based on standard note' option was added to produce more pleasant, flatter beams. Since I use Patterson Beams consistently, I always have this setting at 'Flatten beams based on extreme note', because the plug-in requires it for best results. Good to know. Now ...

Beaming style (Finale et al.)
I noticed this option with beams, which I have never used before. shot 4.jpg So far, the default in Finale is "Standard Note", but when I changed to "Extreme Note" I noticed a very pleasant output. Another option is slope . More slope seems to produce more warm output, such as sl...

Re: Note spacing - voice collision in Dorico et al.?
Whoh - that is very interesting!
I noticed the same with Finale and Sibelius. So, basically, Dorico doesn't differ here?
Here is Finale, the compressed spacing:

Re: "Ten Music Notation Programs", including Dorico
One thing might be very considerable here: why not to create documents with the same fonts? I dislike Finale with Engraver (at this size, perhaps 22 pt is better), and like MuseScore 2 output. I also dislike Opus font... So my judging is very much based on that. That would be hard to do. Not many o...

Re: Note spacing - voice collision in Dorico et al.?
FWIW, LilyPond follows the same logic as Dorico. MuseScore seems to follow Finale's approach by spacing the lower staff notes more evenly and pushing the first pair of 16th notes together. I'm not a computer with Sibelius or SCORE to see what they do. Any takers? This is the default output in Sibel...

Re: Note spacing - voice collision in Dorico?
I think that the spacing is determined by the smallest value, even when they are moved. Right?
