Re: fermata for piano L and R hands

Yes (according to my limited experience and Elaine Gould). And I think I’d center the fermata above the quarter rest glyph, not including the dot.

Re: Beam over rest?

If you consider changing the beaming anyway for better playability: This looks like a hemiola, how about showing this in the beaming?

Edit: LilyPond uses a kneed beam by default but that looks weird with the displaced rest IMO. And I just realised that you already said it’s a hemiola.

Re: Scordatura conventions

I have a question about scordatura for string instruments. My current knowledge comes from being an experienced cello player who has gone through Bach V, Kodaly solo sonata, and Dutilleux Trois Strophes. In all those cases, the notation is "transposed", that is "show me what to play ...

Re: più and meno as dynamic modifers

[…] meno mp seems counter-intuitive and open to rehearsal questions. So you probably don’t want to say “less quiet” but “louder”. The simplest solution IMO would be “mf”, but if you want to stay relative, you had to say “più :forte” It's a lullaby, so I don't want to go mad. Any thoughts? How about...

Re: First post: Feedback on a score (typesetting, fonts, cover, etc)

I’m not a typesetting/engraving expert but here are some details that I think could improve legibility: 1st movement • Stem directions m. 5–11, 18–20, 31–44 (and many other), left hand: I’d prefer downward stems for the quarter notes, upward for the shorter ones; this is some kind of polyphony with ...

Not only Peters makes such mistakes but also Hansen with Poulenc’s “Sex tour”: https://www.sheetmusicplus.com/title/se ... c/16656583

Re: a violin open string/specified tring question

I find the mixture of string number (II) and finger number (0) confusing, so how about two string numbers instead? Also, these numbers don’t have to be that cramped I think. And maybe you could make the crossing clearer by using different stem directions?

Re: Notating a bar

Maybe it’s not 100% clear for everyone but I think that like for fingerings in most cases the distribution of notes onto the hands should be decided by the pianist or the editor, not by the composer. In simple cases like this one, there is a “default” distribution every skilled pianist will use with...

IMHO you need those hooks for hand distribution, the stem directions and beaming are clear enough.

Re: How to beam this?

How about this?

Edit: Added two more options but I think I like the tremolo_beaming.png the most, the position of beats is clearer for me.
