Yes, it would be interesting to see an example. It also depends on what you find elegant. Even with the same font, there are different spacing algorithms, and the slurs and ties are different. Even the layout on the page is set up differently in both programs by default.

I can imagine most of us are eager to hear about how your application handles the endless parameters involved in music engraving and I'm sure many of us are following your progress. It's good to read that there will be options for allowing quarter rests or dotted rests in compound time.

SMuFL is supposed to become the new standard and MakeMusic is also following the developments closely. Do you mean including the music elements, like notes, rests, clefs, staff lines, etc.? I can imagine that text expressions in reduced staves are easier to read if they're slightly heavier or proportionally larger. I'll check some editions and get back to you.

I agree that this book belongs in the library of music engravers. There are things one might disagree with but on the whole it's definitive.
That's a clever German title! Translating word puns is difficult and that's a good solution. You know the double entendre in the English title?

Isn't this one of those things you study for years to be able to master? There was an interesting film documentary about hand-engraving at Henle. This was one of the topics discussed and it certainly isn't simple and it takes a lot of practice and experience.
