Re: Am I the Only One? Let's Hear It!
@DatOrganistTho +1 Nice! Are these the same scores in this link? http://m.stantons.com/sheet-music/advanced-search/results/?t=Felix+Wolfes+Lieder It also looks like they're in a college library near me, so I'll definitely go check that out. It's funny I keep forgetting that there's an amazing colleg...

Re: Am I the Only One? Let's Hear It!
One of the latest scores I bought which I could recommend is Ligeti's Violin Concerto, by Schott, done in SCORE. It is masterfully and virtuously done score, particularly when you see the complexity of it, it leaves you breathless. http://www.schott-music.com/shop/resources/perusal_score_files/1536...

Re: Am I the Only One? Let's Hear It!
@John Yeah, I wasn't really interested in doing the whole song, just a section that contained this notation. I threw up the title and opus just because it looked bare without something there. Totally agree with the placement of sotto, cresc, and Fz. I was using a Henle 1980 edition as the source. I ...

My recreation of the Chopin mentioned above ^ made YEARS ago when I was first sinking my teeth into this world.

Am I the Only One? Let's Hear It!
Does anyone else buy music for no other reason than the engraving itself? We have a store in this area that has quite a nice selection of music. It's been months, but I was finally able to spend some time in there looking at scores. I went in looking for either a Bärenreiter or Henle edition of the ...

Re: I'm No Luddite, But…
There's a recent blog article in the web design world that talks about how big companies are opting to move most of their web work in house as oppose to hiring out to agencies and freelance—it's more efficient and cost-effective, apparently. I don't know anything really about the music publishing wo...

Re: Engraver vs Engraver; Editor vs Editor
I'm with everyone for the most part. A small decision that Henle made that had a big impact was in the second page. Henle keeps three bars per line instead of squeezing in 4 bars like the original. I prefer the spacing of Henle for these pages FAR more than the Breitkopf (except for measure 22. why ...

That just rolls off the tongue. lolDatOrganistTho wrote:So, yes, you are very right, and I think you can call it the "Inverse relationship of typesetting technology to standards" rule (something I'm coining ).
IRTTS or IRoTTtS. Yeah, I could see that catching on… :D

Re: I'm No Luddite, But…
I wouldn't get too much in rut: When the printing press was invented, many, MANY people complained of the same thing. People ascribed what was the best achievement of book publishing to the monks and scribes that made books. The first typeface was barely legible compared to the scribes who did it f...

Re: I'm No Luddite, But…
A while back, reading Urs Liska's "Plain Text Files in Music" he brought up crowd editing . I wonder if publishers would ever go for a structure like this, and if it would be possible* with WYSIWYG applications? The act of entering notes into the computer can (should?) be farmed out for no...
