Re: Software: Overture

I have seen that webpage earlier but I had lost interest since I couldn't find any example that would convice me to buy it. Apppreciated if anyone who uses it could post an example (advanced, edited) of Overture.

Re: Dorico sample.

For my eyes, Dorico default-output looks very unbalanced. Not sure exactly why, but there is the font issue. Bravura is terribly unbalanced font, and also the combination of fonts are far from perfect. The half note-head has less power than the black note-head, for example. Furthermore, there is ten...

Re: Repeat and cresecendo

Along the lines of David Ward's suggestion: Free repeat with cresc..jpg Hm John, that is also quite interesting, the only problem is that I need to reach p at the end of that repeat, not in the next measure. I think that the language barierre is the most problematic. Usin David's ‘repeat ad lib thr...

Repeat and cresecendo

I have one measure to repeat unspecified number of times but in order to get from pppp to p. How to notate it?
If I put repeat symbol and crescendo, it can be understood as numerous times crescendo every time the repetition begins.

Comparation between Bulmer and Freeserif
Thanks. You mean Free Serif Narrow SB, which I have provided?
At my screen FSNSM is clearly more visible even from the longer distance, and at the same time takes less space. What are your opinions?

Re: Composers va Engravers: A Controversial Note

For me Cb looks as the double diminished 7-chord, very common in the Baroque/Classic with inversions:

Re: Unorthodox stem direction

While I agree with you qanunji concerning the melism and slurs, the purpose of notation is communication. And since you communicate in so called the Western style, the way of notation should be in accordance to its rules. I have been working with Balkan folklore music and as well the Byzantine chant...

I think it is fine, as well. Follow tisimst's recommendation on sluring, definitely.

Re: Composers vs Engravers: Stems and Slurs part 3

It must be a very good reason to have these notes step-down. As a "handwriting" composer I would never do that without a strong purpose, since it is harder to notated it stem-down than just continue as it is. I would definitely use the manuscript version as the True one. A question arises,...
