In E Gould there are exact settings for hairpins.
The default settings in Finale gives to much open hairpins and the lines are much thinner.
What are your settings?
I learned from Peter West about French-looking hairpins that give a very nice result, which I use now.

I use
1.3 spaces Music Sales, and my personal general preference
1.2 spaces Boosey and Hawkes
0.8 spaces Durand/Salabert.

I would consider the current Durand/Salabert settings for very tight vertical spacing, but under normal circumstances this is too narrow for me. As mentioned in another thread, my preferred hairpin opening setting is 1.33s (32 EVPU). The 0.03s difference from Peter's preference is insignificant. This setting is similar to what Durand used in the old days.

This was discussed in the thread "Various Line Settings. In the final list, the hairpin line thickness stared at .125 space for a .7 cm staff .153 space for 6 cm, .158 for .5 cm and went up to .166 for a .4 cm staff. 1.33 spaces for the opening. Thanks for the other opening measurements, Peter. I am going to add those to my list.
