+1 Nice!

Are these the same scores in this link?

It also looks like they're in a college library near me, so I'll definitely go check that out. It's funny I keep forgetting that there's an amazing college music library I can check out scores—my alma mater no less. ;)

Felix Wolfes was a new name to me. At first I thought you meant Felix Wolfe's Lieder and couldn't find the dude at wikipedia!

For anyone who has never browsed the first edition of the Ives Piano Sonata no. 2 "Concord" :

http://ks.imslp.info/files/imglnks/usim ... ta1921.pdf

Taken in toto, it is an amazing 70 pages of idiosyncratic notation, especially given when it was written, with a cameo appearance by a flutist at the end (and also a violist in the middle in the 2nd edition).

Thanks! They are quite sublime, really. Highly intricate, and the writing is exquisite, IMHO.

It looks like Stanton's has a few copies! That link you provided is good. Like I said, it is now out of print, but some other book sellers might have copies left of it. Definitely check them out! There are 3 major styles observed over the several volumes of Wolfes. Definitely look at them all and see how nice they all are!

I love music libraries like that.

I'm looking at them now. I definitely want to get my own copies! They're really well done. Also, there are some INTENSE slurs in a few of these!

They are FABULOUS. I love studying them, and the decisions that engravers made - it's no wonder that general quality of computer generated music is so low! True plate engravers had to know every detail before they even breathed on the metal. Really astonishing.

Did you get all of them? I don't have all of them, but I'd love to hear any comments of your impressions on the other engraving styles. I love them!

@Dat

I haven't purchased them yet. I just spent some time in the library looking through them. I'll definitely let you know when I get my own.
