Actually this is a great piece. My daughter played it on her senior recital. (Hindemith Sonata for Solo Viola, Op.25, No.1)

It is actually nothing wrong, except that it could stay TACET until the end.
If the part had a note on the end, the part would be perfectly meaningful.

Otherwise, this is a clear example how linked parts can get bizarre when we leave our job to the "intelligent automation".

The part above looks definitely like a score for movie.
