This would be welcome news, but I'm not aware of it being a "feature" yet. I don't have Fin 25 to confirm this, though. The page you point to is for a "DEV" version of the manual, so hopefully it's coming very soon!

Aha. I got a bit carried away and didn't notice that this was a dev page...
I was actually even thinking of making my own Maestro SMUFLization, but it is beyond my knowledge so I guess I just have to wait some more!

Taking what's currently there of the Maestro family and SMuFL-izing it wouldn't be all that difficult. I'm just not sure it's worth doing since an official rendition with an expanded glyph set is already in the works.

Given the glacial pace of development at MM, as shown by Finale 26, I think that the appearance of a SMuFL-compliant Maestro font is in the far, far future--perhaps never. For that reason, I think that it would be a excellent business proposition for someone to SMuFL-ize Maestro for those of us Finale users who might soon be switching over but don't care for Bravura. Maestro glyphs could be improved in the process, creating an original font that would make Maestro obsolete. (My candidates for improvement would be the > accent and the flags.)
Any takers?

I’d certainly be willing, but it’s copyright MM, so without their permission it’s a no-go. Besides, word on the street is that they’ve already embarked down this path on their own. Only time will tell if it manages to surface or not.

Thanks, tisimst, but I am afraid that we will all be old and gray by the time that happens, especially since it is not in MM's interest to smooth the way for users to switch to Dorico. I think that if someone creates a font similar to Maestro (without violating copyright, of course) they will do well commercially.

I don’t disagree with you at all. I’ll reach out to my contact at MM to see if there has been any progress lately. For what it’s worth, Bravura started out with the same heritage as Maestro, but Steinberg have added their own touch to it so that it no longer resembles it.

Thanks very much for inquiring, tisimst. That is very good of you. I have noticed a few resemblances between the two fonts: the black note heads appeared almost identical when I compared them a while ago, but Maestro seems more elegant to me. I like the dynamic symbols in particular. Bravura looks warm, but thick. So I think that the new font would need to preserve the general feel of Maestro to be successful.

Totally agree.

I find I like the thickness of Bravura but moreso the design decisions of Maestro, if that makes any sense.
