New classic typeface

Post by Schonbergian »

I was browsing MTF's website and found this gem that wasn't there last time I checked: https://www.musictypefoundry.com/product/roman-ionic

It looks excellent for music use and similar to that used by at least Durand in the past.

Is that Knut's music typeface & engraving?

I'm 99% sure it's one of the same designer's own creation, but also based on the Durand style like Knut's. I haven't heard word if he's planning on making any public release or not.

It does indeed look like a lovely font to accompany music. I'll be interested when the other styles have been made.

However, of all the publishers I'd want to emulate, I'm not sure Durand is on the list.....

I've seen a nearly-identical typeface in use by Schirmer in the past, so it's not limited to the Durand style in my view.
