I owe you an apology, or my lousy memory owes me an apology, or most likely both. The musician who is or was good with Graphire Music Press is not Richard Yates, but Richard White. He's at http://www.whitcopress.com/.

In the usenet discussion group rec.music.classical.guitar, in 2004, Richard White said:
Graphire is a very small operation. Try writing to Charles Hiestand at
Charles@graphire.com
He'll tell you anything you need to know.

I've said it before, and I'll say it again: Music Press is the best
kept non-secret in the music typesetting field and suffers only because
of an inexplicable, yet distinct lack of PR.

Thanks very much, John. No apology necessary; I just appreciate the information.

Whitcopress' web site says it uses Graphire exclusively for publications, but the site hasn't been updated since 2004. I found a program review in the About this Particular Macintosh ezine from 2001,http://www.atpm.com/7.08/music-press.shtml#43555, with a reader comment from 2013 by an Ernie Mansfield saying he's the current seller of the program, and that it runs on Windows and in emulation on Mac OS X using Windows emulation software. I found a link, http://www.mansfieldmusic.com/, to a music instructor. I think I'll email him and ask if he knows about Mac emulation software like SheepShaver, which I'll bet is better on the Mac than whatever he's using.

Great sleuthing!

See http://www.magle.dk/music-forums/700-be ... ing-3.html

In it, burton beer man says that he bought Graphire from Ernie Mansfield for $140. The post is dated March 2013.

I also sent Mansfield an email enquiring about the program.

Ernie Mansfield is indeed the contact person for Graphire Music Press, which may be purchased from him at $140 in a "dongleless" or "keyless" version.
ernie@mansfieldmusic.com

There are apparently no plans to update the program.
