Nice spot about the Minim (1/2 Note). We altered the stroke a while ago and you'll see it in the release :)

Oh, Tantacrul is here! Happy to see you, welcome.

If I may ask: what software do you use and will the font be SIL/FLOSS?
I don't have access to your font so my comments are just what I can see from the screenshots.

Regarding half- and whole-noteheads. In SCORE their inner shape is not oval but straight. I believe that it is strikingly unique and just it is why that font looks so bold, stable and yet easy to read.

We fixed the minim stroke thickness already. Very nice spot!

You'll see it with the official release!

The font is SIL and will be released as its own project.

The SCORE minim is certainly much bolder and very distinctive. The version you previously commented on (in my mockups) was much too thin and insubstantial. Our new Minim isn't identical but definitely closer to the SCORE direction.

FWIW, our new font isn't a SCORE clone, although it is heavily inspired by it. Our aim is to achieve a result that is as balanced as possible - like the Helvetica of notation fonts. To that end, we will be refining it (and adding more symbols) over the coming years until it is perfect.

I would be very happy if we could contribute with the comments or ideas. There are some very good topics here about the fonts, maybe it could be inspiring.

Will the font be SMuFL?

Hello, I've been developing this font along with Tantacrul. (It sort of originates with my own customised version of the SCORE symbol set from my what feels like millions of years working with that software; but we've done a lot more to it.)

It has its own home on github now if anyone wants to play with it, without having to dig it out from the internals of MuseScore:
https://github.com/MuseScoreFonts/Leland

The MuseScore 3.6 beta is being released very shortly, so there will be lots of tweaks happening to the font in the next weeks leading up to the actual release. Feedback welcome, of course!

Nice to hear!
A question: do we really need different symbols for p, pp, ppp etc. Just these symbols could be used: p, f, m, s, z, n, r, i.
I have still my complains over half-notehead...

Hello, fellow okto.

pp, ppp, ppp etc are drawn as ligatures, with the separate ps joined together, so they do need to exist; the ff, fff etc the same, to a lesser extent; also, all these are standard SMuFL characters. As soon as we set the kerning up properly it'll be possible to use multiple p/f characters and it'll look almost the same, but if the ligatures are defined in the font (which they are) then most software will automatically substitute the combined characters anyway.

The half-notehead is not going to look exactly like SCORE's, which is distinctive for sure, but it's way too closed-in. (Perhaps we'll nudge it a tinier bit in that direction, though.)
