Hmm. I thought I just tried this and it worked, but it doesn't seem to. Interestingly, the staff name in the Staff Visibility list gets an "(a)", after it, when you add an ossia, which may be what I was seeing (and not noticing that there was no corresponding "(b)".)
I'll report it, and see if it's a bug that can be fixed.
