Thanks, benwiggy. This indeed is what makes Dorico so intriguing for editorial work. Keeping my fingers crossed that they will add the other stuff I need.

Yes, of course using the Jazz ornaments is very much a workaround, though it shows that many problems in Dorico can be resolved by creatively modifying the existing notational elements.

I have no doubt that future versions will consign these workarounds to the skip, in the same way that the previous workaround for brackets over notes is now redundant.

The minor feature of square brackets on accidentals in v3.1 made decent editions of 'my sort' of Early Music not only practicable, but also easy and useful: compare with Finale, where I had to create a dedicated font for symbols with square brackets, and then change the font on specific accidentals. The same visual result, but worlds apart in terms of data and implementation.

Don't know anything about the jazz ornaments, Ben, but can Dorico do turns and trills with the various accidentals with all the combinations of plain, bracketed, or in parentheses? That is, for example, a turn with a top flat plain, bottom sharp in brackets etc.? And can it do trills with the accidental in front of or after the tr symbol also plain, bracketed or in parentheses?

There are settings for the position of the accidental; and you can specify the accidental above and below on a turn; but there is not yet a way to give them brackets, though you could use a separate text block for the accidentals+brackets for the time being. Once you've done the first one, it need not be time consuming at all, as you can just copy the mark to the next instance.

I'm much more sanguine about the things that do take a bit of time to achieve in Dorico, because of all the other time-saving qualities.
