Re: Comparison of music text fonts
N. 3. It is dark and very legible notwithstanding the low x-height. It’s condensed, which helps in many scores.

Re: Nice text font for music
Here are three versions, the top one is my Muzitex v3, that really stands out, without trouble for reading, I think I still wait for a proper font to replace it fully: Screen Shot 2021-01-09 at 23.55.05.jpg Screen Shot 2021-01-09 at 23.55.14.jpg Screen Shot 2021-01-09 at 23.56.43.jpg What a beautif...

Re: Line thicknesses/Sibelius
Thicker staff lines require correspondingly larger and heavier noteheads to match, in addition to other suitably heavy elements. Opus (like most modern music fonts) has relatively anemic noteheads and is designed with a very light line weight in mind (not to mention the other horrific design elemen...

Re: The very first pages of an orchestral score
The "rule" in classical (text) typography is everything starts on the right (odd-numbered) page, so your first example is preferable. Of course, page turning issues may dictate differently, and indeed the music starts on the left page more often than not. As for orchestra full score, where...

Re: Figured bass font in Sibelius
In case you are looking for a general impression, I find the DS font much more visible and therefore more appropriate for figured bass than Opus. However, the symbols are a little large and positioned a little far from the staff and from each other vertically for my taste. On the other hand, the 76...

Re: Figured bass font in Sibelius
I did try and port the Bravura glyphs for figured bass in a Sibelius mapped font. In fact, I started with a copy of Opus figured bass font and ported all the glyphs in their proper slots. Many glyphs I did create by twining two glyphs, for example, Bravura lacks the figure bass altered glyphs, such ...

Re: Problems with Sebastian-FigBass
I just uploaded the revised version to the Github page. (https://github.com/fkretlow/sebastian) Thank you! I created a whole set of numerals in different sizes while working on the fonts. They were all derived from the symbols for time signatures. As for the ligatures, I just knew you could combine...

Re: Problems with Sebastian-FigBass
May I ask, would you please give us the link to the revised font?
And, am I permitted to use the glyphs to make a Sibelius-friendly font?
Only for personal use.

Figured bass font in Sibelius
I am using Norfolk font, the Sibelius version of Bravura, and I am fairly happy with that (I do like Opus as well, however). The authors didn't port the figured bass glyphs from Bravura to Norfolk, so I am obliged to use the Opus figured bass font which I don't like at all (I do like the Bravura gly...
