Re: Where is the best place to get sheet music perfect bound or saddle stitched?
This is great. Happen to know rates and overhead cost? I imagine I need to order 50 or so at a time. Here are my data: format: 24 cm x 32 cm (9.45in x 12,6in) binding: saddle stitch Cover: 240 g/sqm (designed by me) paper: 100 g/sqm pages: 80 2 copies. Re: Where is the best place to get sheet music perfect bound or saddle stitched?
I got outstanding results by Halstan, exactly two years ago: https://www.halstan.de/ You can choose the paper, the binding and so on. Great black print. They are the external facility publishers as Baerenreiter and Henle use for printing their editions. I am not sure if they still provide such servi...

Re: An interesting centered beam in op. 81a
A brilliant hypothesis, John. Only today I’ve learned Beethoven demanded for the first edition of his ninth symphony a strange lyrics alignment. Not “sanft” under one note as we would today, but “sa…” under the note and “nft” under the following, along with its proper syllable. There is a letter of ...

Re: Progressive correction in op. 54
Concerning analysis. Suppose I could produce a convincing analysis that shows that the famous A sharp in op. 106 must be an error. What would be a corresponding example in textual criticism? And could such an analysis made entirely by internal evidence and without reference to outside sources? Firs...

Re: Progressive correction in op. 54
This can only be true for truly great pieces of music, no? I mean, music with a very high degree of consistency, and from an era when the music was not mainly occasional. In the romantic era, yes. In the baroque era, less so. Bach himself did change melodic shapes to comply with keyboard extension, ...

Re: Progressive correction in op. 54
Internal evidence is heavily used in textual criticism. Only, texts can count on “external” evidence which in music is often elusive. I’d say the relative weight (as opposed to absolute) of internal and external evidence can be different between texts and music. As for the principles, I don’t know. ...

Re: Progressive correction in op. 54
John, I am honoured by your interest. I’ll try but can’t be sure I will be able to convey all the nuances of this complex matter as English is not my primary language (Italian is). So, sorry for errors and obscurities and please feel free to point out and ask for clarifications. Definitions. The con...

Re: Progressive correction in op. 54
John, I like very much your posts on Beethoven, I don’t jump in the conversations because I am a very scarce connoisseur of Beethoven. Things like the “espressivo” you explained us are the reason why I advocate critical editions as opposed to “urtext”. In fact the concept of urtext is plainly reject...

Re: Two November 2 issues
Somehow the dot glyph is not centered: It should be centered in the font itself in order to be centered in the space. Hi NorFonts, that’s what I was thinking too. Then I noticed that if I only changed the music font without loading the whole November house style (which the font installer installs a...
