Re: Scores in C or transposing?

I guess it's a bit similar to how singers used to sing from 4 different clefs, and if you needed to pitch your next entry by reference to another part, you'd have to read whichever C-clef was being used on each staff. But these days, most singers would at best only be able to sing 'relatively' from ...

Re: Lyrics in foreign language: italics of not?

Look it up in a good English dictionary. If it is there, it is part of standard English. If not, check online. It may have entered the language recently. The OED lists 'adieu' as being in common usage these last 600 years, so I'd say it's just about bedded in by now. In a passage like this Even if ...

Re: First MuseScore experience

In MuseScore, it's possible to change a lot of layout parameters but it's also, at least for me, to get lost in what you've done so if you want to go back some steps, you have forgotten what you've done in detail. There is a possibility to go back to the factory settings, but then you lose all manu...

Re: First MuseScore experience

In MuseScore, you work on score level where normally one instrument is one part. Now, in this case, I need to combine many instruments to fit the music in the score on one page in a readable size. This means, I’ve combined Flute 1/2, Oboe 1/2, Clarinet 1/2 etc. For this, I haven't yet found a good ...

Here's my prototype for a revised accent for Sebastian:

It has a very slightly thicker note-side edge, and a narrow angle.

Accent shape

How do people feel about the shape of accents? Should the angle be wide, or narrow? Should they be wider than the notehead? Here are an assortment of different accents from various fonts. Any favourites? Any least favourites? Screenshot 15.png I know that they ultimately derived from a "tiny ha...

Re: Alignment of lyric hyphens

Similar little mis-alignments bother me, and one of the small improvements to Dorico recently was the ability to set the hyphen distances for a selected run of hyphens, and I've made much use of it. Screenshot.png However, I'd quite understand if you left it, for the reasons you suggest. That having...
