Finale 27 is 'coming soon'

MM have posted a blog about the forthcoming Finale version 27.

https://www.finalemusic.com/blog/finale ... ming-soon/

Most notably, there will be SMuFL font support. Does that mean we'll see the long-anticipated release of the SMuFL compatible version of Maestro (and Engraver)?

Sebastian v1.04 update

Gosh what a lot of fonts we have these days! If anyone's interested, I've made a few little tweaks, improvements and adjustments, and now up to 1,201 glyphs! The v1.04 update to Sebastian is now available. https://github.com/fkretlow/sebastian/releases Unless there's anything particularly egregious,...

How many fonts?

This score's frontispiece is typical of fin-de-siècle type design, where "more is more", as far as type styles is concerned.

A far cry from the usual design maxim of keeping type styles to a minimum (and 'don't underline').

Re: dots and triplets

Thanks, John. I've put rhythm figures above the quavers that I think should be dotted, and left several 'straight'.

Re: dots and triplets

Instances where the choir are singing homorhythmically, except for the dot, muddy the waters somewhat:

The Basses have the dotted rhythm, but not the upper voices.

(Traditionally, everyone sings them dotted, because it's more fun.)

Re: dots and triplets

Thanks, John. I've also found a copy of the original oratorio, which has triplets. (And some staccato markings, which I think I'll show editorially.) There are also 'issues of clarity' with the slurring. (For example, your Haydn A: should the slur go into the second bar? That's my instinct, and what...

Re: dots and triplets

I'm sure you're right. But -- following on from your marvellous posts about assumptions and corrections by editors, I wanted to check that I wasn't making a similar error. (Also, slightly out of my area with music after 1750!) It's Haydn's "Insanae et vanae curae", which is a Latin re-setting of a c...

Re: dots and triplets

The omission occurs first! Sorry - that's the crucial bit of info.

The slurring is also sloppier at the start, and seems to improve, so perhaps they gave the first few pages to the apprentice.

dots and triplets

I'm working on a piece of Haydn, from the original Breitkopf printed edition of 1780s. Similar musical phrases are repeated, but they seem to be written in two different ways. One like this: Screenshot 8.png and one like this: Screenshot.png EDIT: (the music appears without the triplet FIRST.) Now I...

Re: New treble clef

My goal is ultimately to harmonize it with Trinite. That's a nice font. I looked at buying it, but £374.16 per weight, or the complete set discounted to £1,867.93 is a little out of my range. Font designers gotta eat, but still.... As for your clef: really interesting. It reminds me (and this is me...
