Re: Finale Maestro Wide font discontinued
Does anyone have a recommendation for a SMuFL font equivalent to Maestro Wide? Probably not the answer you expect, but well. For your information and for what it's worth! I recall that the differences between Maestro and Maestro Wide are very small. To my knowledge only the three noteheads (for who...

Re: Positioning Chord Symbols and Rehearsal Marks for Jazz
I wonder if this use of ‘fake book’ and ‘real book’ is US only, or if it crossed to this side of the Atlantic. I never (knowingly) encountered it, but that doesn't mean it wasn't there. Living in Germany I bought my copy in january 1981 (I wrote the date on the cover). At this time and much earlier...

Re: Proofreading suggestions
@ John Ruggero Oh, proof reading! This and drums + percussion notation are for me the most tedious things to do in music notation! Considering the high level of music notation skill you show on this board I find it interesting that you ask this question. I assume that your proof reading is more abou...

Re: Multi-bar rests
@ OCTO Thank you for your thoughts. In the meantime I came to the conclusion that concerning the multi-bar rests I should then better stay with the established rules. @ John Ruggero Great to hear that you wrote the manual and I that you intend to publish it. Good luck with this. Indeed the posts I c...

Re: Multi-bar rests
@ John Ruggero Thanks for your interesting answer. Your thoughts directly lead me to a question about when cues are are appropriate and when not but I assume this question probably belongs to a new thread! I rapidly made a search about A. Arnstein on notat.io but did not find a lot. Is there somewhe...

Re: Multi-bar rests
Thank you David Ward and benwiggy for your thoughts.
I guess I have to reconsider my recurring tendency to do things in a different way!

Multi-bar rests
From how many bars do you use multi-bar rests in parts?
Personally, up to four or five bars I much prefer to read empty bars.
Are there any rules about when it is appropriate to use mutli-bars rests?

Re: Finale 27 is 'coming soon'
In the meantime I could get a less expensive upgrade to Finale 26 and I will make use of the grace period to get 27. The upgrade price is from any old version, so you don't need to pay twice to got from 25 > 27, if that's what you mean. What I mean is that the upgrade price to 27 will be probably $...

Re: Finale 27 is 'coming soon'
@ benwiggy Yes of course, you are right in many points and I can agree with you. But after these few years with Dorico I come to the result that I should better not wait everything from it and if Finale can do the other things that I need then well, why not use Finale for these other things. The bes...

Re: Finale 27 is 'coming soon'
Now that the release of Finale 27 is imminent I am thinking about upgrading my older version (25). Though I am working with Dorico since a few years and love a lot of things in it there are a few things that appeal me to upgrade: 1. The new SMuFL fonts 2. The extension of XML import/export features ...
