Re: Pachelbel Magnificat Fugues
It looks very nice. Suggestions: 1. The spacing is a little tight, even for someone like me who likes tight spacing. You might put it on 5 systems. 2. For me, the omission of some of the rests and changes of stem direction actually make it more difficult to discern the voice leading, which in turn m...

Re: Colored sheet music
You are most welcome, qanunji. I am glad that you have thought seriously about the slurs and have come up with a logical decision. Given what you have done so far, I have no doubt that your final result will be very fine. Please do take the format of the first and second endings seriously. Finale ha...

Re: Colored sheet music
The spacing in your later version is fine. Congratulations on a excellent first engraving job! I noticed a few slight inconsistencies in the vertical level of some of the ornaments in both. The first and second ending brackets should not be joined in Hamavdil. And there is an absence of slurs throug...

Re: Composers vs Engravers: Stems and Slurs part 2
Thank you very much! I will indeed. But I have worked on this on and off for years so I am not sure when it will happen. In the meantime, you could read my book on piano technique available at www.cantilenapress.com.MJCube wrote:Ohhhh I’m going to want that! Of course you’ll let us know when it’s out, yes?

Re: Colored sheet music
Other than the color, which will create visibility problems for some, the overall layout and appearance is very attractive. A couple of simple improvements would make a big difference: 1. The first note in each measure is abnormally close to the bar line. 2. There is too much space between the chord...

Re: Endings?
You might have the two endings bracketed like a first and second ending, but instead of 1. and 2. have: "For continuing" and "For ending".

Re: Divisi double stops - Brahms
For what it is worth, I am pretty sure that I have seen this elsewhere. I agree with OCTO. that Brahms was too frugal to lay it out on two staves when one works well enough. While players often divide up double stops, Brahms might not have been pleased if it were done here: it is an intimate moment....

Re: Composers vs Engravers: Stems and Slurs part 2
Agree with you! Thank you, OCTO.! Do you see, both are missing the word "energico" and "cresc" in M2, and "^" at the first note and :cctime Also the tempo is = 76. Chopin often made additions, corrections and other changes in proof copies that are now lost. Also wrong ...

Re: Composers vs Engravers: Stems and Slurs part 2
Here is an example from the Chopin's final MS of the Etude op. 10 no. 12. It seems to verify my suspicion of a broken S-shaped slur in the lost final MS of op. 10 no. 4. The two pairs of measure are almost identical accept for the slurs. The second one breaks off strangely and indeed is a broken S-s...

Composers vs Engravers: Stems and Slurs part 2
Another "questionable" spot from the German 1st edition of Chopin's Etude op.10 no . 4: Chopin Slurs.jpg 1. Why is there no slur in the LH of measure 4 when there were slurs over the same music in the LH of measures 1-3? 2. Why does the slur in measures 5-6 start where it does? No one woul...
