Re: Some possible improvements for a piano sheet (original composition)
I think you are right. 6 measures on a line is not a problem. The rest of your layout is actually on the spacious side.

Re: Some possible improvements for a piano sheet (original composition)
You are very welcome, mikkop. I can't believe I didn't notice the repeat of m. 15-16 or would have commented on it earlier. Repeats of short bits like this are generally written out, unless it represents an ad lib. repeat. If you decided to write it out, this would impact the layout issue on p. 3 an...

Re: Some possible improvements for a piano sheet (original composition)
The end and beginning of the line slurs in Dorico take an example in Gould that looks exaggerated to me (page 112 bottom) and make it even more exaggerated. I wish Dorico would just do level slurs and leave the rest to the user, if it can't do better ones on its own. Just noticed the two measure sys...

Re: Some possible improvements for a piano sheet (original composition)
Very nice. I thought you were probably using a tablet, but players using sheet music will bless you. I just noticed a slur at the end of m. 86 that could use a little work. Software has problems with this situation and also the one where there s a single note on the next line. Neither Finale nor Dor...

Re: Some possible improvements for a piano sheet (original composition)
Looks great! Something else to consider: page turns. If you start on page 2 instead of page 1 (page 1 could be the title page) you would have two facing pages: 2-3. I see an excellent page turn in m. 38. Then the rest of it could be on two facing pages 4-5 with 6 systems per pages, which is standard...

Re: Some possible improvements for a piano sheet (original composition)
You are very welcome, mikkop! In m. 43 etc. the last three eighth notes in the right hand should be stems up. Then the next two notes in m. 44 are fine with stems up despite the lack of lower voices. Later you have then stems down which is OK but to me not quite as nice. But others might disagree wi...

Re: Some possible improvements for a piano sheet (original composition)
The left hand would generally be beamed as follows to avoid rests, which would otherwise be necessary. Both versions of your piece are shown:

Unusual dotted notes
In J. S. Bach's time, when voice-leading was paramount, each note often had its own stem: Bach WTC I Bb MS.png Note that Bach was forced to break the beams of one inner voice of the four. As Rameau's chord theories came into vogue, chord notes started to be gathered up on one stem: From a student of...

Re: clef change problem for viola
And then there were the days when keyboard players read in 5 clefs: soprano, alto, tenor, violin (or G-clef) and bass.
